Coming from a photo chemical background it it always bothered me when I desaturated a digital image to create a black and white.  You see i just wasn't happy with the the midtones.  Those wonderfully rich shades of grey that i was able to obtain in "the soup" just seemed to vanish and i couldn't figure out how to get them back without shooting film. i couple of years ago i started shooting HDRs (High Dynamic Range) for the heck of it, i wanted to see what the big deal was so i thought i would give it a go.  When i started looking at those images i couldn't help but notice the rich colors and the shadows and highlights were incredible.  Keep i
